Chief Joseph Madden
We are entering the Spring and Summer seasons. Traditionally the nicer weather leads to a significant increase in both pedestrian and bicycle traffic. One of the few positives to come out of the pandemic is seeing more children and families riding their bicycles. Please make sure all children under 17 are wearing a helmet. Our officers will be keeping any eye out for any violations since we strive to keep our children safe and healthy. Please keep an extra eye out for the cyclists and pedestrians when driving. We have a zero tolerance for talking or texting on your cell phone or driving aggressively on our roadways. Officers will be enforcing these violations throughout town.
Burglaries are also increasing in our area so please remember to activate your security systems and lock all doors and windows. Donโt leave any delivery packages at your house for an extended time. Remember to lock the doors of any vehicles left in your driveway. Do not leave key fobs or keys in any of your vehicles. Outdoor lighting also helps deter criminal activity. We also provide vacant home checks for anyone going away on vacation. Officers will stop by and check your house while you are away. Stop down at headquarters and fill out a vacant home card. I want to remind all of our residents to make sure to check the Community Policing section of our web site located in the drop-down menu under the Department Services Section. This section explains many of the important community policing initiatives our department provides for our residents.
