Bias Crime Unit
The Bias Crime Unit within the Park Ridge Police Department is responsible for maintaining and filing all incidents related to bias crimes committed within the Borough of Park Ridge. The unit also provides updates and in-service training to all officers on any changes to laws and regulations for bias crimes.
Bias crimes also known as hate crimes, is a crime committed against a person, property, or society that is motivated, in whole or in part, by the offender's bias against a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or ethnicity/national origin.
All officers within the Park Ridge Police Department when called to the scene of a bias crime will conduct a full investigation of the incident. A report and photos of the scene when needed will be taken. All persons involved will be interviewed and when evidence of a crime is observed and the offender is identified arrests will be made.
